Stephanie Jordan is a premier Jazz vocalist. She made her debut at
the Takoma Station in Takoma Park, Maryland on February 15, 1991. At the
urging of her sister, she climbed on stage and joined the Doug Carne Band
in an unrehearsed rendition of "I Remember April." She was
signed on the spot to appear there every weekend for a year. Within a few
months she developed a loyal following. Ms. Jordan is sought after and has
appeared at many of the Washintgon D. jazz haunts such as The Twins Jazz
Lounge, Trumpets, Blues Alley, Carter Baron Amphitheater, and The Ritz
Nightclub. She appeared at the opening of the Schonberg Center of the
Langston Hughes Theater in New York City, performed at the New Orleans
Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the Marciac Jazz Festival in France. She
has shared a billing with the Count Basie Orchestra at Jazz Aspen in
Colorado. She accepted an extended engagement at "The Palace"
Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey and upon her return became the regular-featured
performer at Harrah's Casino in New Orleans. Recognized internationally,
the Sud Quest French publication calls her "unbelievably
superb". The Washingtonian Magazine, in a two-page spread, labeled
her "JAZZHOT" In addition to these accolades Ms. Jordan
was awarded 1st prize in "The Billie Holliday Competition" and
2nd prize in the D.C. Hennessey Jazz Competition. Recently, Ms.
Jordan has appeared with the New Orleans Ladies of Jazz and at Adagio's
Jazz Club in Savannah, GA. She has collaborated with her sister, Rachel
Jordan, in a fully staged concert with strings from the Louisiana
Philharmonic and her Jazz Quintet entitled "Stephanie with
Strings". A version of this performance featuring her brother,
Flautist, Kent Jordan, was repeated with the Alabama Symphony. Ms. Jordan
is the fifth performer to emerge from a family of New Orleans bred
musicians. As the daughter of saxophonist Edward "Kidd" Jordan,
Stephanie's musical roots run deep. Siblings include flautist, Kent
Jordan, trumpeter Marlon Jordan, and violinist Rachel Jordan.
